This page is for Professional Financial Advisers only Latest from Cofunds - week commencing 29 November 2010

We've added a range of drafts trusts for collectives

As draft trusts these are not an off-the-shelf product but will give you a starting point from which, following legal advice, you can set up a trust suitable for your clients.

Tax planning is an essential part of financial advice. Setting an investment up in trust can be used for the management of capital gains and inheritance tax planning, but you can get more information from a legal adviser – who should be consulted before using any of the draft trusts on the Cofunds platform.

We currently have three trust structures:-

  • Bare Trust
  • Discretionary Gift Trust
  • Discretionary Loan Trust.

To make it easier for you to spot which trust might be appropriate, we’ve put a Decision Tree on the website. This can be used to help you put forward a recommendation to your client.

Take a look at the documentation, which can be found either in the ‘collectives’ section under ‘Products and Funds’ or in the ‘Document centre’. For each draft trust we’ve created.

  • an Adviser Guide
  • an Investor Guide
  • a Draft Trust Deed.

There’s one standard Trust Investment Application Form for all trusts, as well as a Trust Identity Verification form. For the Discretionary Loan Trust we also have a Loan Trust Agreement.
